Artist
From nothing to something, the magic of creating art has captivated me from a young age. I have been painting and writing what seems like forever. My formal art training came at the 92nd Street Y Art Center in Manhattan and I have an MFA in creative writing from the University of Washington.
My painting focus in recent years has been my series, Unraveling, a narrative exploration of how trauma travels down the generations. It tells a story of hope and despair through my own experience as the daughter of a Holocaust Survivor and begs to ask the question, “can a legacy of violence ever be transcended?” These paintings lean toward loose representational images and are all oil on canvas.
Deeply affected by my father’s traumatic legacy of loss my poems also tend toward the narrative, ever probing what has been for me an unfathomable history.
While originally from Seattle, Washington, I now live and work in West Long Branch, New Jersey. My husband, David, and I have five children and fifteen grandchildren. The generations continue.
